Study
The Suzuki Method is a well-structured and proven method for your children to learn to play their chosen instrument. My philosophy is based on Dr. Suzuki’s belief that through educating our children in classical music we can all help to make the world a better place.
Private Cello Tuition
One to one instruction covering the teaching points throughout the Suzuki repertoire, exam preparation, and ongoing technique in preparation for advanced repertoire, parent guidance.
Group Lessons
16 group sessions are held per year including 2 performance opportunities. These are a compulsory part of learning by the Suzuki Method and are fundamental in providing review opportunities and motivating the student. They play an essential part in nurturing the cello student in communicating and socializing in a group situation. They help to build self-confidence and respect for others as well as providing an element of fun and enjoyment through music making.
Parent Involvement
A parent is required to be present and engaged at every lesson, so that they can take on the roll as the ‘home teacher’. Just as they teach their child to speak, they nurture the child’s musical development with love, patience and care
Instrument Hire
The Cello Collective have an array of sizes available to hire for the duration of your Child’s study.
Workshops and Camps
These are held throughout New Zealand and overseas especially during summer, but also during our other holiday periods. They provide a unique way to motivate students to keep practicing through our longer breaks, not to mention the family and social fun that these music-making opportunities provide. For more information on dates see the NZSI web site: www.suzuki.org.nz
